HAPPY NEW PRESIDENT DAY

Watching the inauguration, I laughed (out loud) at these three bits:

1) George W. Bush getting booed as he emerged.
2) Rick Warren (the reverend dude) sounding completely ridiculous and over the top. Was it just my atheist sensibilities or did he really sound that stupid?
3) The poem. And especially the. Way. It was. Being read like. This. (It wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't been read right after Obama's speech, which was about 100 times more poetic.)

Haha I laughed at when Obama forgot what to say and leaned forward and grinned all embarrassedly. I LOVE HIM.

I thought it was a ploy to endear himself to the public. I bet it is!

I was listening to the guy read out the lines and was thinking... that's a long one I'd totally forget that, and he did! Bet he's kicking himself, I hadn't considered it was a ploy!

YES, the lines were really long! I was like "omg guy, read them shorter!"

2) It wasn't just you. Warren looked like an utter tool competing in a high school oratory competition. Trying to look all soulful with his eyes closed--he just sounded terrible, and his speech was average.

Thank god I'm not the only one!

I didn't like Warren's prayer but it could have been worse. BUT the prayer after the poet was great. Well at least the part i heard. lol i muted the poet and missed the beginning of the prayer.

LOL, you muted the poet. *snicker*

I listened for like a minute..and then i was embarrassed and uncomfortable cos the reading wasn't good enough to follow a speech like she had to. I'm sure the poem will be very nice in print. But i had to mute it, lol.

I felt embarrassed for her too, lol. I tuned out after a while but I heard snatches of it that just made me giggle. Like the bit that went: "And we will repair... what needs to be repaired" But all solemn-like, with the pause in the middle. *shakes head*

By now, I guess I'm alone again. :\ I'll probably get around to it, eventually.

[identity profile] lishesque.livejournal.com 2009-01-21 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
:O

You didn't watch it! Were you busy or just not interested? Or perhaps in a remote place where there was no tv/internet/radio/media of any kind?

[identity profile] pebblin.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Just not interested. He's not Jesus. When this change gets here, then I'll stare at him on TV.
