Oh man. I just watched "Endgame", the last episode of Star Trek Voyager. I've put off watching it for several years, because I couldn't bear for it to end. But tonight, I thought it was time.
The whole Seven/Chakotay relationship thing was completely unexpected and stupid. There'd been nothing leading up to it, and they had no chemistry whatsoever. (Although, Chakotay has about as much chemistry with anyone as a tree.) Every time they were on-screen, I mentally replaced Chakotay with B'Elanna, which was actually surprisingly easy to do. Must be from all the T/7 fics I read over the years. :-D
I was also surprised by the crazy amount of J/7 subtext, like Admiral Janeway's face when she sees Seven after all those years. The way she went all still, and said "Seven", with her voice all husky. Hell, it seemed like her whole motivation for going back in time was so she could save Seven. But the big one was when she's begging Seven to try and change Captain Janeway's mind, and her tone of voice when she's staring up into Seven's face, imploring her to think about "the people who love you." And Seven, who had been looking away before, suddenly turns to look at her. Srsly. Holy batman subtext moment right there.
Some favorite moments:
- Admiral Janeway's reaction when Seven first steps into the room.
- The look on Captain Janeway's face when Admiral Janeway tells her that she gave up coffee. Lulz.
- The Admiral Janeway/Seven scene in Astrometrics.
- Any and all battle of wills between Admiral Janeway and Captain Janeway.
- Voyager exploding out of the Borg sphere in a blaze of glory.
But ZOMG the ending is SO UNSATISFYING. I need like... post-Endgame fic. Right now. >.<
