Survive First Year of Teaching - Tick

I refresh my LJ and think to myself "Lish, you really need to update - you haven't updated properly in ages."  But I don't have anything important or even mildly interesting to say.

Work officially finished for the year last Friday, so I've already had a week of break.  We had the Christmas service and then the end of year staff lunch at a rather fancy place called Potter's out in Warrandyte.  I actually enjoyed the lunch, which is unlike me.  Mostly, I hung out with Nicole, who is the other English Language teacher.  We made linguistics jokes during the service, like noting how many imperative sentences there were in the prayers during the service.  Lulz.

It seems that I have survived my first year of teaching.  I feel like I should be proud, or relieved, or something.  But what I feel instead is anxiety about next year.  I really don't think next year is going to be any easier.  :-/ 

Anyway, I'm enjoying my break so far, but sliding into antisocial hermitage again.  So, before I turn completely into a cave troll... who wants to hang out?

It hasn't!! I'm so glad. Though, you coulda checked first to make sure someone else wouldn't be eating my sweets! ~.~ I haven't sent your candies, though... ¬_¬ YET. I just need to box it up and get to the post office, is all. Yeah, I know I suck. :\

Yeah, I had your Tim Tams for a couple of weeks and finally got off my butt to send them.

I wanted to check, but I signed onto AIM and you weren't there. And I really wanted to get them sent before Christmas, so... I took a gamble. :)

I obv. don't know from personal experience, but every teacher I've ever known (inc. both my parents *g*) seems to say that it gets exponentially easier after your first year, so fingers tightly crossed!

That's what everyone says but I'm teaching 4 brand new subjects next year, including a Year 12 class. :/ AND I'm going to be a Year 7 tutor, which is akin to being half a parent at our school (we're really big on the pastoral stuff). But I do appreciate the fingers crossed on my behalf. :D

Your Cold of Doom sounds sucky. :( I wish you a very speedy recovery! And yes, we need to catch up!

Nothing will ever be as bad as Year 1. It all gets easier, and better, from here on in.

You've done well. Congratulations! Kicking ass will now become easy ... and FUN! bwahahaha.
