WorSHIPPING the Alias subtext

I recently discovered a new pairing: Sydney/Rachel in Alias. I wish there were an online equivalent of me jumping up and down while waving my arms and turning red in the face from excitement, because "OMG!" just doesn't convey the feeling properly.
OMG OMG OMG! x 10,000,000,000
There is SO MUCH SUBTEXT in season 5 Alias!
Oh most excellent, beautiful, glorious, life-affirming subtext! How I worship thee. How I thrive on thee. How I ADORE thee!
Subtext: Both Sydney and Tom walk past Rachel and her (evil) friend. Friend is slightly besotted with Tom, whereas Rachel turns her head to keep looking at Sydney. Friend coyly asks "...but then he's not really your type is he?". Rachel turns head from where she was staring after Sydney and says "No". Then friend says, "That's what I like about our friendship. There's no competition." (!)
Subtext: Sydney looks at Rachel and says "I believe in you." Then, as Rachel leaves for her mission, she turns her head to look at Sydney like she's checking her out.
Subtext: Sydney's call sign is Phoenix. We find out that Rachel's old agency call sign is Mockingbird. They're both birds! (badoom chish) Surely this is a sign. I mean, obviously, they're just meant to be together! o.o
Subtext: Sydney and Rachel are on a plane sitting next to each other. Sydney is asleep. Rachel looks over at Sydney. Sydney opens her eyes and smiles at her.
Subtext: Much of Episode 4 involves Sydney and Rachel stuck in a small, dark space (a car) together.
Subtext: Episode 5 starts off with Sydney doing exercises in her living room on a rug. A rumpled looking Rachel walks out of what is possibly the bedroom clad only in PJs and helps pregnant-Sydney up off the floor. They look rather intimate. Sydney tells Rachel she can stay at her place for as long as she wants. They also have a cute little chat on the sofa and Sydney says "We're both going though transitions. We...we might as well keep each other company." Interestingly, the episode is titled "Out of the Box" Perhaps a better title for it would have been "Out of the Closet".
Subtext: Sydney vehemently opposes sending Rachel on her first ever mission solo. Obviously it's because she's terrified that something will happen to her. "She's not ready! At least delay the mission a few weeks - just give her time to train!" she pleads with Jack. Jack says "this is no different than when you were sent back to SD6", and Sydney replies "this is completely different! ... I had Vaughn" (Vaughn being Sydney's main love interest throughout the series). Jack, without missing a beat, states matter-of-factly: "And Rachel will have you."
Subtext: Sydney gives Rachel a pep talk before her first solo mission. After a short moment of silence, Rachel looks up into Sydney's eyes and says "It helps a lot... having you." Sydney grins and looks down. (Awww!)
Unfortunately, after episode 7, the subtext got dramatically reduced and they started pursuing a stupid, stupid, STUPID chemistry-lacking relationship between Rachel and Tom (WHO ISN'T HER TYPE!). And then Vaughn (Sydney's fiancee and father of her child) came back. And then the show ended.
Damnit.
