So I've been indulging in an orgy of fanfic reading the last couple of days.  Veering wildly back and forth between J/7 and T/7.  Today I'm on a T/7 kick and reading old favorites from Perfect Misfits, Lisa Countryman's site and VJB.  The nostalgia is pwning me hard.  *sighs*  I need to find a new fandom or something.  It's too depressing reading stuff that was written in 2000 or even 1999 (last century zomg), knowing that some of them will never be completed, or that there'll never be a sequel, or that the heyday for this particular pairing/fandom is long past.  Blah.  So yes.  New fandom.  Any suggestions, people?

In WoW news, I totally tamed Loque'nahak today!  I've been stalking him all week.  For those of you who don't know, Loque'nahak is a rare elite cat that spawns in Sholazar Basin.  He's incredibly hard to track down because of the sheer number of people wanting to tame him or even kill him (for the achievement).  I almost died from excitement when he spawned only 20 or 30 yards away from where I was sitting.  There was a random pally nearby and I thought he was going to grab him, but I tagged him first.  By the time I found my "tame beast" button, he was almost half dead because I'd been in such a frantic hurry to tag/shoot him, lol.  Anyway, here is a pic of my new kitteh along with my friend broken_faerieNyy, who also recently tamed Gondria (another rare elite).  Mine is the less ghostly looking one.

So now I have a dilemma.  Originally I was going to name my new pet "Huntress" (and then name a bird pet "Black Canary" - after the DC comic heroines :D), but this cat just doesn't look like a girl cat.  I have a billion female names but I can't think of any names that would suit a male cat other than "Stormy".  So... what should I name him?

Lol, that makes more sense. :D Yeah, I have read fics with OFCs as half the pairing, and the OFCs have a sad propensity to turn into Mary Sues. *sigh*

I... wrote some very embarrassing attempts at fanfic when I was 15-17. >.> I would love to get back into writing, but my fiction muse and I haven't been on speaking terms for a while now. :(

That's why I tend to avoid anything with an original character like the plague. Then again, I'm often very wary of any femmeslash, after having burnt my brain far too many times on fics that have so obviously been written by men D:

That's a pity, because if your fiction muse would allow you to write fic as well as poetry, that would be a very good thing :)

Oh noes! Don't be wary of femslash! You just need to get to Voyager and fall in love with it, and there'll be heaps of good fic written by women. :D Actually, I've read some good Voyager fics written by men too. What was bad about the ones you read?

Inorite?? Maybe one of these days I'll compile all my angst!prose, change the names, and write a REALLY ANGSTY fanfic.

So when do I get to read your big bang fic? :)

I've read some great ones, but the obviously!male authors seemed to be a combination of Stuff They Saw In A Male-Oriented Lesbian Porn Movie and Stuff They Really Wish Their Girlfriend Would Agree To ;) Glad to hear the quality in Voyager is good, though.

Hee, I have a few of those kinds of fics online. When I was angsting over my very first breakup, I wrote a stack of stuff that was ostensibly fanfic but really my own personal angst. It's... not great *g*

I don't think they go live until October, even if I do manage to finish it! It's Kirk/Spock, though, so it probably won't interest you that much anyway :)

Ahh, I understand. Haven't come across too many of those, thankfully. :)

Have you ever read Jeanette Winterson? A lot of her books sometimes feel that way (inspired by personal angst, that is). I have a love/lol relationship with her writing.

October is ages away. Well Kirk/Spock isn't as endlessly fascinating as Wesley/Worf or Wesley/OFC, but I'd want to read it. :)

I've only read Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit, but that one definitely had a strong helping of personal angst! I did quite like it, though.

Aw, thank you :) The trouble will be actually finishing the bastard. You never know - I might end up deciding I want to write a Wesley/Worf epic instead.

You should read Written on the Body. Iz 1 of mah favorite bookz.

You could always have Wesley/Worf as a secondary pairing in your fic. ;) I hope you do finish it. More fic FTW!

I just put a hold on it at the local library. I shall blame you if it sucks ;)

Hm. I would have to twist time a lot, given that this fic is set 100 years before Wesley was born. It might be worth it, though!

:D

Ooh, awesome! It's totally depressing, btw. Make sure you have some happy!fic handy to counter its effects afterwards.

Oh, I totally forgot that Kirk and Spock don't belong in TNG-verse. But hey, that's what time travel is for!

I don't know about happy!fic, but I'll probably end up following it up with the next Twilight book. Does crappy!fic count? *g*

Sadly, I'm not sure that I'll be able to wangle a way for Worf and Wesley to turn up at Starfleet Academy, and then have sex all over the place. Perhaps next Big Bang...
