The best things about today:

+ Laughing with Lucia about the random "what, what" in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night (refer to what what in the butt)

+ TBSOL chapter 39

+ Talking to my crazy, crazy friends

Less exciting things:

Teaching Tip #2: Giving yes/no answers to student responses is the number one way to shut down class discussion.  Instead, ask further questions, ask them to elaborate, or ask other students to give their opinions/ideas.

ZOMG SO TIRED

I was a little emo this morning on the train. I've gotten bored of my DS so I don't really play that on my morning commutes anymore, and I have nothing to read because I still haven't managed to get a hold of a copy of Twelfth Night. So this morning I was just scribbling in my little notebook, which is kind of depressing. My notebook is usually reserved for the emoest of entries and random story ideas (which I then never write).

My Year 9 class (Lesson 6) went really well today. They were supposed to be giving talks and so I was just there to guide them/give feedback, but of course only 3 people were ready to give their talk so I ended up improvising and doing a random activity with them (which I had only thought up 10 minutes before the class). If I hadn't had that random activity, it would have sucked. But as it went, they seemed to really enjoy the lesson.

Teaching Tip #1: Always have a Plan B.

In other news, some books that I ordered from Booktopia arrived. They are:

Slow River by Nicola Griffith
The Blue Place by Nicola Griffith
Stay by Nicola Griffith
Silk by Caitlin R. Kiernan
Murder of Angels by Caitlin R. Kiernan

I'm still waiting on Pages for You by Sylvia Brownrigg, as well as Always by Nicola Griffith.
