My mum said over dinner - randomly - that she was watching Brokeback Mountain. o.O Oh the mind, it boggles. The good news is that she didn't say anything negative, and she didn't seem disturbed by the subject matter. Regardless of how open-minded she may be to gayness though... it's always different when it's your own kid who's gay. So no coming out for the time being, still.

In other news, uni starts again tomorrow. The Easter holidays are never long enough. *sigh* I'm kind of looking forward to not having enough time for prolonged emoness. I'm not looking forward to having to get up before noon again, being constantly stressed and exhausted, and generally gaming/internet/chat deprived.

This week I caught up with some friends, old and new, which was really nice. I welcome to my LJ zatapoiki and shetan83. :)

I also started coding a Xena Text Adventure Game earlier in the week. I don't know when I'll finish it because the busy suddenly caught up with me and I don't know when it'll let go again. I suck at finishing things, too. Still... it's in the works.

Things I didn't have time to do this holidays:

- Get around to renewing my WoW account :( :( :(
- Watch any of the Star Trek I borrowed
- Reread TBSOL
- Talk to certain other friends
- Play my new games, Bully and Zoo Tycoon 2 (much)

Time. I don't haz it. *sigh*

The Xena Drinking Game

Sip:
Every time Xena does the warcry
Every time Xena punches someone
Every time someone dies (or if you are unable to tell for sure, at least seriously maimed/wounded/concussed)
Every time cheesy sound effects are heard
Every time Xena yells "GABRIELLE!"
Every time Gabrielle yells "XENA!"
Every time the chakram gets thrown
Every time any extra says "Help!" (or any variation of help eg. save us! help us! etc)
Every time a redshirt dies
Every time a god/goddess throws a fireball
Every time Xena uses something that isn't normally used as a weapon as a weapon
Every time someone hurts Joxer (this includes when Joxer hurts himself)
Every time Xena whistles for Argo
Every time Xena wears something other than her usual armor
Every time an extra talks with a New Zealand accent (if you can spot them)
Every time the camera zooms into Lucy Lawless' face for suspense
Every time Xena catches an arrow (or any other deadly flying object)
Every time Xena and Gabrielle share a look

Drink:
Every time Xena raises her eyebrow and does "the look"
Every time Xena puts the pinch on someone
Every time Gabrielle gets in trouble
Every time Gabrielle doesn't do as Xena says
Every time someone from Xena's past shows up
Every time there's a historical inaccuracy
Every hot tub/lake/excuse to get wet and naked scene
Every time Gabrielle changes outfits/hair styles
Every time a look-alike shows up (e.g. Diana, Meg, Leah, Hope, Evil-Xena)
Every time there's a fish joke
Every time someone says "Kill 'em all!"
Every time someone is crucified
Every time Callisto flirts with Xena
Every time Ares looks dark and sultry
Every time a small random animal shows up
Every time Xena unsheathes her sword but ends up punching someone with the hilt instead
Every time Gabrielle wrinkles her nose
Every time Gabrielle is on the verge of death and Xena is distraught/frantic

Chug:
Every time Xena says "I have many skills."
Every time a main character dies
Every time Xena defies large amounts of gravity (a flip doesn't count)
Every time Gabrielle does "her bard thing" (use verbal skills to get out of trouble/tell a story)
Every time Xena invents something (e.g. the kite, caesarians, CPR etc)
Every time Gabrielle goes ballistic
Every time someone other than Xena catches her chakram
Every time there is a major subtext moment (e.g. declarations of love, soulmateness or a kiss)
Every camp fire scene where Xena is sharpening a sword and/or Gabrielle is writing in her scrolls
Every time Xena changes the course of history

I should credit some of those to Ruth, who I first talked to about this ages ago.

Lol some of those don't occur nearly as often as you would think. Xena only says "I have many skills" a few times throughout the whole series. And she only puts the pinch on someone once or twice an episode (and some episodes not at all). Granted the fight scenes might get a little hectic with all the punches going on, but at least Xena punches people less than she kicks them. :D

It all depends on the episode. For example in Ides of March, you'd probably get plastered: Gabrielle and Xena both die (chug x 2) by crucifixion (drink x 2) because of Julius Caesar (xena's past - drink, historical inaccuracy - drink), Gabrielle goes ballistic (chug), there is at least one major subtext moment (chug), and Callisto throws and catches Xena's chakram (sip and chug). But, really, any other episode...

Brokeback Mountain has got to be the most BORING movie in the history of mankind. I'm even including documentaries of watching paint dry. I kid you not, I have tried to watch that movie four times and I always stop watching at the exact same spot. And I can stand bad movies. I OWN Underworld: Evolution. But Brokeback wins the Dumb prize.
