Yesterday was good.  Things that were good about yesterday:

1) I managed to finish an assignment in under 4 hours, which I have never in my life done before.  And I got all my assignments in before 5pm.
2) On the tram, I was sitting across from these two girls and my gaydar pinged.  And I was right!  Because a minute later one of them put their head on the other's shoulder.  Aww.
3)  I hopped into EB Games at Melbourne Central and picked up my Collector's Edition WotLK.  It was impressively big.  The salesgirl may have flirted a little bit.
4) I was reading mX on the trainride home when suddenly someone sat down across from me and kicked me.  A full on kick in the shins that actually HURT.  I looked up and saw my best friend [livejournal.com profile] tangledtale.  <3  We talked until she had to get off at her stop.  It was nice seeing her again, even if MY SHIN HAS A BRUISE NOW.
5) I came home and stroked my WotLK.  And I rocked it.  And crooned to it.  And then I opened it.  And then I took pictures of it.  Pretty pretty pictures:

So yesterday was good.  But today?  Not so much.

Grrrrrr. My internet was dead for about two hours. After trying everything I knew to fix it, I finally called Digiplus, and waited like 30 minutes on the phone to talk to tech support. The lady on the other end was very helpful and while rebooting my computer, we had a nice little chat. Apparently she's been having a crazy night cos everyone's been ringing in - not about the internet - but because the bills came out today and people have been ringing /tech support/ for help with bills instead of... oh crap. I think my internet is dying again. Anyway, the point is. She helped me fix it, but as soon as I hung up, it stopped working again. GAH!!! And yeah, I'm posting this entry in the short period in which it does work.

*pissed off*

[Edit: It seems to be working again now. Yay!]

Ever since getting broadband, emule (my file sharing program) hasn't been working properly. The internet would pretty much stop working every time I opened emule, and nothing would download anyway. I did a little TCP and UDP connection test and neither were successful, which basically meant emule was fucked. And that really sucks because what's the point of broadband (apart from 24 hour connection and fastness) if you can't download enormous craploads of music and movies?? I mean really!

But, and this is a very triumphant and happy but... BUT, I think I've fixed it. :-) After some fiddling around with networky stuff that I don't really understand, I managed to get a new port working and now everything seems to be working again. *knocks on woo-- oh crap. Too late. MSN and AIM both just disconnected, and emule, which was downloading a song happily just a few seconds ago has stopped again. ARRRGHHHH!

Tomorrow. *twitch* Tomorrow I will fix this.

My mother hasn't stopped going on about my career choices for a year.  It's pretty much chipping away all my self confidence... not that I had all that much in the first place, and making me increasingly neurotic and antisocial.  *sigh*  I wish she'd just let me be.  The constant (and I really do mean constant... as in every time she talks to me.  As in whole 30 minute slabs of sitting in my room, repeating things she's already said) nagging has resulted in me giving in to her latest design for me, meaning I'm gonna try and learn enough Chinese to take the HSK, which is an exam so that you can get an internationally recognized certificate of I-Officially-Know-Chinese.  She means well, and I'm trying to see the positive side of getting this certificate - and I can see a few - but I wish she'd just respect my choices enough not to oppressively dictate my life to me.  And this is exactly the reason why I refuse to come out! My mum would NAG me into becoming straight.  She really would.

In other news, I watched Brokeback Mountain today with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] tangledtale today. It was an excellent if highly depressing movie. I cried.  Several times.  Go watch it!

Now. Hopefully the net is working enough to let me post this...

Okay, first of all... I have ADSL!!!!!111 (cue excited squealing from my minions... people)

Unfortunately, the modem seems to be broken. I called up my ISP and after many questions and much rebooting they've decided to send me a new one. But it won't get here until next week. So until then, I have a shoddy connection that disconnects (and then reconnects) me every ten minutes. Grrrr.

This morning I had a really cute dream. I was on a plane with some friends that I was visiting and the plane crashed near an ocean (that's not the cute bit). We climbed out of the wreckage... and I could see really pretty lights in the sky, like Aurora Borealis... and I had these nifty powers that could control the weather - I could make the sea go boom. And I did. I made the sea go boom, and the waves crashed and thundered, and it was good. Then the dream changed and I was outside of the house of one of the friends I was visiting. These friends were all identity-less except for one who's actually an LJ friend (and she will remain nameless just to keep you all guessing). *mysterious smirk* I will say that she was blonde... that should narrow it down. Anyway, for some reason we started comparing our hand sizes, and her hand was a lot smaller than mine... and then we held hands! And we kept holding hands when we walked, and we sometimes exchanged little glances. (/That/ was the cute bit.) Then we went inside and talked a bit with the other friends (while still holding hands) before the mystery LJ friend announced that she needed to go to the toilet... and apparently she only understood Spanish (or what stood for Spanish in the dream) because one of the friends pointed to the toilet and said something like "la cubica" meaning "that's the toilet". And then the mystery girl disappeared for a bit. After a while, the dream me went to the room where I was staying and found Miss Mystery sitting on the mattress which was my bed for the duration of the stay, and I grinned in a silly way and goofily said "that's my mattress". AND THEN.

...

My sister woke me up.

GAH!!!!

*grumble grumble grumble grumble*

Oh, one last thing. [livejournal.com profile] penstarr, you should totally check out this article. Here's a small snippet:

The line between art and life just keeps getting deliciously blurrier when it comes to
The L Word and its cast. Four weeks ago, out lesbian actress Daniela Sea made her first appearance on the show, becoming the second out cast member (joining Leisha Hailey), and now Jennifer Beals has apparently outed co-star Katherine Moennig.

Regardless of what Beals knows that the rest of us don't, if Katherine Moennig wasn't a lesbian before Sarah Shahi whispered sweet, Spanish some'in-some'ins in ear ("Quiero lamer te hasta que te vengas en mi boca mil veces"), she probably is now. Good Lord, is there a human being with a pulse who could resist Shahi?

Hee.

Gah. The internet is still acting weirdly. I got disconnected three times in the first five minutes of being online today. It seems to have stabilized for now, but I'm just going to post this short entry to give everyone a heads up in case the phone line dies again for another week. *kicks the stupid thing* Please please please just /work/, damnit. I'm so internet deprived right now. >.<

Oh, and welcome back [livejournal.com profile] quew. *hugs* I missed ya. :-)

Omg I have internet again! omg. Oh the pain I've been through. The agony >.<

The phone line died for about five days this week. Every time I tried to go online, nothing would download and I'd get disconnected after two minutes. At first I thought it was a virus, but after a day or two of this, the modem started making crackly sounds, so I thought it might be my modem. I bought God of War and killed things. Then the phones all started making crackly sounds and disconnecting in the middle of calls, so we figured it was the phone line and called someone to fix it. They couldn't come until Monday (today) though so I had to spend the weekend internetless as well. But yay! Happy day! The repairman finally came and fixed it. *blissful sigh*

In other news, I spent $400 over the weekend and got my computer upgraded a wee bit. I now have more memory, more space, a better graphics card, and a DVD burner. Hee. Oh, and I'm getting ADSL starting from February. *JOY*

I am now off to check my 186 emails. Once I'm done with that, I'll start reading my mountain of LJ entries.
